Website payment standards is not really the problem because you can initiate the response. It's IPN wherein the problem lay. The notification tries to send data to a URL, but GoDaddy do their little redirect magic and causes the IPN to fail (as it will not follow the redirect).

It is also possible that GoDaddy has ameliorated the problem by now if you are indeed using IPN with the handler hosted on a GoDaddy Grid Hosting server.

Peter,
Something you may also not have realized was that this 302 redirection REALLY messes up organic rankings. I know, because I'm periodically losing my rankings for select pages because the google bot seems to spit back robots.txt errors whenever godaddy does the 302 to query string to 301 method (whatever the heck it is). It's DEMOLISHING my rankings and Godaddy has been clueless - they keep telling me it's an issue with ME.

Unfortunately, the best solution is to go with someone else. They refuse to do things differently.

You could host your IPN handler on another server that does not do the 301 forwarding -- that would be a reasonable workaround as you'd get the scalability for your site. IPN is not likely to cause much of a load, but you run into connectivity issues. Still, it's a viable option that I have considered.
